You have the right to choose which auto glass shop replaces your glass. Some insurance companies may try to get you to go to one of their "preferred shops" (a practice known as job steering) rather than encouraging you to choose the shop of your choice. Job steering is not only illegal, but most of the time it's a recipe for a bad experience for the vehicle owner. When glass shops get work from job steering, their goal is to keep their customer happy, which in most cases is the insurance company.

If you experience a phone representative trying to steer you to a particular glass shop, JUST SAY NO! Under Texas law, you have the right to use the auto glass repair facility of your choice. Don’t be tricked into allowing just any glass shop to handle your windshield needs. “Use who the pros use.”
